See my Patched Exhibition Preview!

I invite you to join me in celebrating my opening reception at the Kitchener Public Library for my solo exhibition Patched.

I have added some photos here as a sneak peek of some of the work you can expect to see in the exhibition.

The opening reception will be from 7-8:30pm on Thursday May 7, 2020.

There will be sparkling water and refreshments!

Patched is an ongoing series of photographs where map paper (made from maps of places I have been to) is embedded into trees where the bark naturally peels away as an act of offering or mending.

The photographs displayed in the exhibition were all from my book Patched that was published with the support of the Waterloo Arts Fund in 2018. There will also be some new and recent work from this series too! (The featured photos are all recent from this past summer)

Mark my opening reception on your calendars!

See my Exhibition at the O Gallery!

From January 15-March 8, 2020 I have an exhibition at the O Gallery @44 Gaukel in Kitchener, ON Canada.

This exhibition consists of my framed hand dyed and hand embroidered dish cloths that resemble aerial views of farmlands. These works are professionally framed in glass. They are wire mounted and framed in white.

I love the white frames in these works because the dish cloths are so colourful and often have areas of intense vibrancy.

Another element to this exhibition is my handmade abaca paper with embedded sewn thread drawings to mimic the act of farming the day in day out labour of the back and fourth motion. This repetition of farming coincides with the repeated lines. These paper drawings are displayed with clipboards as a field study. The clipboard presentation to me implies a sense of research or note-taking.

See my Exhibition at the Button Factory Arts in Waterloo!

Not everyone is from Waterloo, ON so I wanted to share my exhibition at the Button Factory Arts in Waterloo, ON.

The exhibition is from January 17- February 1, 2020.

The group exhibition is called Friends & Lovers and is curated by Tee Kundu.

There is a variety of art forms including photographs, paintings and a community quilt project among others!

I have three works shown at the exhibition. The two smaller photographs are from my Patched series where I embed map paper into areas of the tree where the bark peels always. The larger photograph is titled Nestled and included twisted strips of map paper.

Here is the description of the exhibition:

If love is a feeling and care is an action, they are always engaged in conversation. As we navigate our lives, these conversations become increasingly important in shaping our stories. Drawing on personal lived experiences as archival knowledge of histories and possible futures, our identities are forged through our relationships with one another. Friends & Lovers explores the ways in which care, vulnerability & intimacy contribute to our sense of community. Who are you in love with? And how?
