Fielding Through is a book composed of drawings of fields on frosted Mylar with ink. The paper is transparent the drawings have a layered look. The book is sewn accordion style so the pages are able to extend as one long strip.
hand embroidery on dyed dishcloths with suspended sewing, 2016.
Paper making is an exciting process for me. I like how the pulp floats on the surface in an organic manner. The first picture is abaca pulp with some sewing embedded in the paper. The second picture is abaca pulp mixed with jeans that have been beaten and the third is me installing the work.
Inspired from my background in painting and drawing-particularly colour field painting, romanticism and abstract expressionism. This field is dyed on sheer polyester. Behind the large drawing is smaller drawings on mylar with ink.
This is a work I exhibited for my end of term critique. The clothing is from my grandfather who is now a retired farmer.
